Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups dashi (Japanese soup stock)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 lb cooked octopus, chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup pickled red ginger
  • 1/4 cup tenkasu (tempura scraps)
  • Takoyaki sauce
  • Japanese mayonnaise
  • Aonori (dried green seaweed)
  • Katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes)

Instructions

1. Mix flour and dashi in a bowl until smooth. Add eggs and mix well. 2. Heat takoyaki pan and grease with oil. 3. Pour batter into the holes of the pan, add octopus, green onions, red ginger, and tenkasu. 4. Cook until edges are set, then use a skewer to rotate the takoyaki balls. 5. Keep rotating until fully cooked and crispy. 6. Serve with takoyaki sauce, mayonnaise, aonori, and katsuobushi.
