When you create an account, we collect your username and email address. When you use the AI Identify feature, you upload food photos which are processed by OpenAI's API and optionally stored via Cloudinary. We do not store your photos permanently unless you submit a recipe.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve the Chefly service
- To identify dishes from photos using AI (processed by OpenAI)
- To manage your account and subscription (processed by Stripe)
- To send password reset emails when requested
- To display recipes you have submitted to the community
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that have their own privacy policies:
- OpenAI — processes food images for dish identification
- Stripe — handles payment processing for Pro subscriptions
- Cloudinary — stores recipe images you upload
- AWS Lightsail — hosts our backend infrastructure
4. Data Storage
Your account data is stored on secure AWS servers. Passwords are hashed using industry-standard bcrypt and are never stored in plain text. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
5. Cookies
We use session cookies to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
6. Your Rights
You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at [email protected]. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
7. Children's Privacy
Chefly is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users by email of any material changes. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
